IZEL is a wastewater treatment plant located in the Les Paquis area of Izel, within the municipality of Chiny in the Luxembourg province of Wallonia, Belgium. The plant serves a small population of 591 people, reflecting its role in a rural community. It is part of Belgium's decentralized wastewater infrastructure, which relies on numerous small-scale facilities to treat domestic sewage across the Ardennes region. The plant provides secondary treatment, which is the standard biological treatment required under the EU Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (91/271/EEC) for agglomerations with a population equivalent under 2,000. Its designed capacity is 3,600 m³/day, and the current discharge volume is 105.64 m³/day, indicating significant spare capacity. Treated effluent from Izel is discharged into local watercourses that ultimately drain into the Semois River, a tributary of the Meuse.
