Al Ansab Sewage Treatment Plant: Advanced MBR Facility in Muscat, Oman

Al Ansab Sewage Treatment Plant is a major wastewater facility located in the Bausher region of Muscat Governorate, Oman. Serving a population of 800,000, it is one of the largest treatment plants in the country, operated by Haya Water under a long-term concession. The plant plays a critical role in managing the capital's wastewater and supporting its growing urban landscape. The plant employs advanced Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) technology, which combines biological treatment with membrane filtration to produce high-quality effluent. With a designed capacity of 125,000 cubic meters per day and a current utilization of 88%, the plant operates efficiently. As an advanced treatment facility, it meets stringent standards for water reuse, aligning with Oman's national water management goals. All treated wastewater from the plant is reused for landscape irrigation across Muscat, reducing demand on freshwater resources and supporting green spaces in the arid city.
