ROWP Negresti is a municipal wastewater treatment plant located in Negrești, Vaslui County, Romania. The facility serves a population of approximately 3,048 residents and is situated in the eastern part of the country, within the historical region of Moldavia. As a secondary treatment plant, it provides biological treatment to reduce organic pollutants before discharge. The plant operates under Romania's implementation of the EU Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (91/271/EEC), which requires secondary treatment for agglomerations with a population equivalent (PE) between 2,000 and 10,000. With a designed capacity of 13,000 m³/day, the plant is sized to handle the wastewater from the local community and is expected to meet the directive's standards for organic matter removal. The treated effluent is discharged into local watercourses that eventually drain into the Bârlad River, a tributary of the Siret River, which flows into the Danube and ultimately the Black Sea. The plant plays a key role in protecting the water quality of these downstream ecosystems, supporting aquatic life and preventing eutrophication in the Danube Delta and Black Sea coastal zone.
