ARV GUDHEM Wastewater Treatment Plant, Spångsholm, Sweden

ARV GUDHEM is an advanced wastewater treatment plant located in Gudhem, near Spångsholm in Mjölby kommun, Östergötlands län, Sweden. The plant serves the local community and is part of Sweden's comprehensive wastewater infrastructure, which is regulated under national environmental legislation aligned with EU directives. The plant employs advanced treatment processes, which go beyond secondary treatment to remove nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus. With a designed capacity of 6,000 m³/day, it is sized to handle the wastewater from the surrounding area. Sweden's regulatory framework, based on the EU Urban Waste Water Treatment Directive (91/271/EEC), requires advanced treatment for plants discharging into sensitive areas, including the Baltic Sea catchment.
